he First episode of season 3 of Rick and Morty is fantastic and starts off the season with a bang. The episode follows the events of the season finale last episode where Rick handed himself in to the Federation to spare his family who's on the run from them.
The episode starts off with Rick seemingly broken out of the federation prison and relaxing with the family at a restaurant but it turns out that it's a Matrixesque computer system designed to search through his mind to look for any secrets that the government could use. Fortunately for Rick, his mind can outwit the machine and the government agent inside it by making a fake origin story, though he does mess about before it in a humorful way, trying to make a stash of discontinued McDonald’s sauce and messing with the government agent.
After Rick fooled the agent into letting him out, he starts his elaborate plan to escape and destroy the federation and the council of ricks at the same time by crashing the council's headquarters into the prison, which conveniently has all of the federation's secrets, the plan involves killing the guards and body switching to get past security of both the prison and the council's headquarters.
Morty and Summer also had to deal with their own issues, Summer having to deal with realizing that her grandfather she admires is an asshole most of the time that only uses people do get what he wants and Morty being jaded, wants her to stop admiring him since he has the tendency to leave a trail of chaos behind him when he gets involved with anything. The Rickshank Redemption is a funny and great introduction to season 3 of Rick and Morty with its dark humor and a look into Rick's psyche, where he isn't a good person and is Jaded at the world.
