Firstly, it’s got to be Panto and this year you’re spoilt for choice.
The Riverfront this year present Cinderella from Tuesday 29th November 2016 to Monday 2nd January 2017.
Starring the beautiful Elin Llwyd as Cinderella, the fabulously funny Richard Elis as Buttons, the dashing Lloyd Green as Prince Charming and the ugliest of Ugly Sisters Nic Gibney and Liam Tobin, Cinderella will have silly slapstick, magical mayhem, music and laughter in bucket loads, plus a little romance. It's the perfect treat for all the family.
Tickets from £6 to £20.
Our friends at the NEON on Clarence Place, for one day only on Monday 12th December its Beauty and the Beast.
Set in a dark village where a beast lurks in the shadows. Belle is on a journey to find her Prince, with her best friend and funny man Muddles. They stumble upon a castle where she will see things she never thought was possible and meet her love … The Beast.
But trying to stop true love is the evil Rumpelstiltskin who put the spell on The Beast out of jealousy!
Join Dame Claire Voyant, Muggles, Belle, The Beast, Mrs Pots and the evil Rumpelstiltskin on this epic Panto adventure.
Tickets from £5.
While we’ve at it, the NEON is going to be epic this December… A Faulty Towers dining experience, the legendary Bad Manners, three tribute acts UB4D (yes you read that right), a Spandau Ballet tribute called True Gold and a Jersey Boys tribute.
This year, after years of having office parties, to celebrate the success of a lot of our team getting jobs we’re off to Superbowl. They’ve got some great Christmas packages.
Entertainment sorted. Next I want to see the great man himself. Catch Father Christmas at Newport Indoor Market.
Now into its second year, Friars Walk must be the go to destination for shopping and dining alongside the Kingsway Centre and Commercial Street. Even though Shop Local Saturday has been and gone this year please keep supporting the amazing range of local businesses that we have.
Where do I begin. As a club DJ I have never been so excited about Christmas in Newport.
Slipping Jimmy’s and Urban Tap House are into their second festive stint. New bars, Hogarths, NEON Lounge and Flamingos are about to embark on theirs and even Parc Pantry have popped up in the City Centre with Parc Central.
Mr Ifsta is already promoting the Christmas and New Year Club Hop and has announced alongside Courtyard, revamped La Bamba, Meze and Blind Tiger, the much-missed Warehouse 54 is due to make a festive comeback.
Then the rest of the line-up include my residency, Atlantica, Potters, Windsor Castle, Crosskeys, McCanns, Carpenters, Greyhound. Lamb, Lloyds, Wetherspoons and Breeze. Apologies if I missed anyone out.
Got to give some love to The George in Maindee who have supported us in what we do again this year.
Check out our ‘Kindness Calendar’ on social media. It’s an Advent Calendar with a positive twist. It reminds me about what the festive season should really be about.
We’ve also got your favourite DJs with added Christmasness until 23rd December and then from 27th December it’s our annual festive mash up where our team appear in the daytime to keep you company as we try to remember what the date it is. The best bit for me is my crazy mixed up bunch of delinquents tend to mash shows together so you get Adam L Davies on the Breakfast Shakeup and maybe Lord and Lady of Rock, Sammy and Leanne sharing a mic with pop lover Gareth Willey, a kinda ‘These Scissor Won’t Cut Rock. Who knows what chaos will take place as I take a little lie down.
Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube are all spruced up and online, everyday till Christmas Day, at least one festive blog a day.
This is why I love and massively respect my team of over 60 volunteers.
Thank you for listening reading and coming to all the events we’ve been involved in in 2016.
Happy Christmas and all the very best for 2017!
