ast Saturday, Newport City Radio had the pleasure of providing the festive soundtrack to the Rogerstone Community Christmas Carols event at the Rivermead Centre. I was amazed by the turn out, and can now reveal how much money was raised for Velindre Cancer Centre and the British Heart Foundation by way of this email from the organisers...
"Our event was a huge success and we cannot thank you enough for coming along to join us to raise money for our chosen charities. We are really pleased to announce that we raised £2,000 on the night and that Sarah Hall from Lloyds will be able to double the money as she worked on our Bottle Stall. This means that minus costs for our generators and lighting, both charities will receive nearly £2000, which for a small event over a few hours, we are amazed.
Over the course of the evening we had nearly 600 people attend - it couldn't have gone any better! The charities are very, very grateful. Thank you so very much for being part of the team, giving raffle prizes and generous donations. We have had nothing but praise from the community, the Rivermead Centre and councillors, so our objective of bringing people together for a little festive cheer has been a success.
If anyone requires a receipt for donations or stall fees, please can you send me an email and an address to send it to, and I will gladly oblige. Once again, thank you all. What started out as a little carol singing grew and grew and we are so glad you chose to be a part of it. Kindest regards, Kat, Charlie, Emma & Belinda"
Happy Christmas beautiful people of Rogerstone!
