he Tiny Rebel Newport Food & Drink Festival returns to city centre this Saturday, 7th October. This event showcases some of the finest produce from across South Wales and further afield. From chocolate to cheese, coffee to cider, the festival has something to entice every taste bud.
Last year the event was a huge success with an estimated 14,000 people attending; a great boost for the Newport economy. This year’s festival looks set to be even bigger as it grows in popularity year on year.
Local brewer, Tiny Rebel, who are the headline sponsors of the event have had an amazing year and are quickly becoming a go-to destination in the region. Other sponsors for this year’s event include the Celtic Manor Resort, Newport Now and the Golden Lion Magor.
The event will run from 9am to 5pm, during which time the centre of Newport is set to be lined with around 80 stalls. Offerings will include flapjacks, gourmet meat, cupcakes, noodles, cheesecake and much more. A full list of exhibitors can be found on the website.
There will be a range of chef demonstrations available throughout the day, including Gavin McDonagh, from the Celtic Manor Resort, who will be live at the Newport Now Zone from 1pm. This zone is located in the upstairs gallery area of Newport Market. Full information about the demonstrations happening on the day can be found in the What’s On section of the festival’s website.
Meanwhile there will also be roaming street performers entertaining crowds throughout the day. There will also be balloon modelling and face painting.
If you want a leisurely look around the stalls my tip would be to head down early. This is set to be a busy event with an excellent vibe. Take your time and soak in all that is on offer, including demonstrations, tasters, and the chance to purchase a diverse range of quality produce.
