If you've been around Newport City Radio over the past week, chances
are you have probably seen a tall guy, with an arm in a sling, sporting a
crazy brown furry hat. Well that's me and I've had an awesome 7 days
gaining valuable experience assisting staff after completing the 10 week
beginner radio course at the station.

It was an action packed week and all the DJ's and support staff were
extremely helpful and patient. As well as producing the training show, I
helped out on the legendary Funday Monday, the Mainstream Mix up, The Good
Times, The Tech Cast and the Most Wanted.

I learned that it's not just about the shows but about the preparation too.
On Friday morning I had my acting debut helping Dizzee Dee and the crew
filming the trailer for his valentine feature on his show. It was great fun,
but I don't think Robert Pattinson has anything to worry about anytime soon!

Perhaps the highlight of the week was working on the 'Spin' news special
surrounding the reaction to the 'Bouncers' show aired on Channel 4. It was
great to be part of the news team that covered a very topical story that
evoked strong opinions from the people of Newport and the Twitterverse.

For anyone looking to work in radio, video/audio production, news/sport
journalism, and gain valuable skills in the current job market or even just
to take up a new hobby, I strongly recommend getting involved with Newport

]]> Charter housing team - Celebrate Success http://www.newportcityradio.org/ It's always a big day at Newport City Radio, but today, after 10 weeks, our first group of Charter Housing trainees complete their course. They'll be on air after 3:15pm today to show off what they've learnt just before graduating. It's a huge academic achievement.... but what is you're greatest qualification (real or made up!)

After 3:15pm we've got that special show with tracks from Pixie Lott, Ed Sheeran and David Guetta. We're talking about The Brit Awards as one of our new presenters is going! Also we'll find out more about a BIG variety show coming to the Christchurch Centre in February
