What is Happiful?

Happiful’s mission is to create a healthier, happier and more sustainable society and to challenge the stigma around mental health. We believe that everyone deserves access to the right support and we champion this by connecting those in need with professional help.

Our network of directories allows those looking for help to find counsellors, coaches, hypnotherapists, nutrition professionals and holistic therapists easily. We also produce a monthly magazine, dedicated to sharing stories, self-help tips and expert-led advice on all things mental health and wellbeing.

Happiful was born from the passion of two sisters, Emma and Aimi. After struggling to find support themselves, they were driven to make the search easier for others. In 2005, they founded Counselling Directory, a website where people can search for counsellors in their local area.

Over the years, more directories joined the Happiful family, including Life Coach Directory, Hypnotherapy Directory, Therapy Directory and Nutritionist Resource. Tying everything together in 2017, Happiful magazine was launched sharing true stories, insight from professionals, and self-help support. To keep support accessible, alongside our
physical print magazine, we offer a free online magazine, a library of online articles and our podcast, Finding What Works.

As a platform, we are committed to realising our mission. Rooted in family values, we strive to infuse every aspect of our work with compassion, empathy, and a genuine desire to effect positive change in the world. Central to our mission are four foundational statements:
1. To raise awareness of mental health – because we all have it. We are passionate about informing and supporting people who are looking for help.
2. To bring people together – whether it’s connecting people to professional help or building friendships in the office. Together we are dedicated to making a difference.
3. To end the stigma of mental health. Mental illness and poor mental health are not things to be ashamed of, and we are proud to lead the way in allowing people to publish their stories with their own voice.
4. To have a positive impact on the world around us – through looking after our staff, our readers, our society, and the planet.

In all that we do, we remain steadfast in our commitment to upholding these principles, guided by a shared vision of a world where mental health is embraced, stigma is eradicated, and every individual is empowered to lead a life of purpose. Together, we stand as catalysts for change, champions of hope, and ambassadors of compassion, united in our pursuit of a brighter, more inclusive future for all.
