Getting To Know Us: Richard “Cookie” Cook

Q. How long have you been a member of the Newport City Radio team, Cookie?

A. I’m one of the newest members of the crew. I joined in the latter part of 2023

Q. What is your role?

A. They tell me I’m the best tea maker! I am the official Mr. T! And I help out wherever I can. I’ve just joined the new Breakfast Show team.

Q. What’s your favourite part of being on the team?

A. Being with people. It’s a lovely friendly environment.

Q. What cake do you like best?

A. Honey Cake

Q. When you were 10 years old, what did you think your career would be?

A. I wanted to be a DJ/presenter or a comedian.

Q. What should visitors to Newport see or do while they are here?

A. See the Roman ruins at Caerleon

Q. What pantomime character is most like you?

A. I would say I’m most suited to Aladdin as I work in a shop that is like an Aladdin’s cave!

Q. Recommend a book that everyone should read

A. Holes. I won’t spoil it by telling you the plot but it’s about kids who dig holes!

A. Goldie Looking Chain at The NEON

Q. What new skill would you most like to learn?

A. Film directing and acting
