Lee Jenkins presents his weekly show from his home in Canada, although he is proud to have his roots in Risca, South Wales.

Q. Lee, tell us about your role at Newport City Radio.

A. My BigShot Sound System joined NCR in 2009. Or was it 2010? Actually it was 2009. After about a year on Peter Ice’s Reggae Dancehall Show, Lamsie offered me my own show. So BigShot went solo.

Q. What’s your favourite part of being part of the team? 

A. Community. Even though I’m a long way away.

Q. What song makes you want to dance? 

A. I just heard Scooby Snacks by Fun Lovin’ Criminals and I’d say that but at my age I’d probably sit it out. ha ha ha

Q. What’s the best way to spend a Sunday afternoon? 

A. With my family then hosting my show.

Q. Favourite kind of cake? 

A. Victoria sponge.

Q. What Pantomime character is most like you or would you like to play? 

A. Bonzo the Dog. He first appeared in pantomime in 1923 alongside Lupino Lane. Bonzo was a proper celebrity and a pop group in the 60s even named themselves after him. (Bonzo Dog DooDah Band)

Q. Which celebrity would you like to be for a day? 

A. Lemmy Kilminster

Q. When you were 10 years old, what did you think you would grow up to be? 

A.  drummer, which I did.

Q. Tell us something not many people know about you 

A. I once told Liam Gallagher to f*ck off.

Q. What’s the best sandwich filling? 

A. Prime rib.

Q. Do you play a sport or are you a keen spectator? 

A. Cricket and rugby. On the telly.

Q. What should a visitor to Newport do or see? 

A. Look up. Enjoy the fantastic architecture.
