Tredegar Mini Golf is Set to Re-open After Vandals Set Fire to the Kiosk.

Back in May, the kiosk of the mini golf course was selfishly set alight to by vandals, meaning the whole course had to unfortunately shut. Fear not however, it is set to re-open this September.

The mini golf park was originally opened by Laura and Stephen Skinner in June 2023 and has been a huge success.

Stephen, who is greatly excited about the reopening of the park, along with the new edition of its own splash pad, said ‘’We have a couple of things we are going to build in the container itself. It is nice to be back, and we have had a lot of people asking when we plan to reopen.’’ He goes on to say that they are trying to keep their prices cheap in comparison to their competitors in order to make it accessible for everyone.

Thank you to the community in the area, they were able to help the reopening song due to the donations made by the public.

Faiths stand together against the far right violence by the EDL

As you most likely know, there have been many far right protests taking place all over the country.

Well, Newport won’t stand for the violence that it has caused. Last Sunday, an interfaith Vigil was held at Newport cathedral in attempts to show solidarity between Christianity and Islam during this trying time.

The rioting has caused harm to many people, both civilians and police officers so, in an attempt to keep this violence out of Newport and Wales, vigils are being held by faiths.

Interfaith Officer for the diesis of Monmouth, Andrew Lightbrown, felt as though their faiths needed to do something, as a demonstration of solidarity.

“I felt it was important for us to show friendship and unity through these dark times,” he said.

MPs Ruth Jones and Jessica Morden were present at the vigil. They praised the faiths for coming together during these times.

At least in Newport we are lucky to have such a united community.

Sparkle Hosts Summer Fun Day For More Than 450 People

More than 450 people from across Gwent gathered for a summer fun day at Serennu Children’s Centre in Newport.
Sparkle, the charity partner of the Serennu Children’s Centre, organised the event which featured at least 20 diverse games and activities and was attended by Newport mayor, Councillor Ray Mogford.
Sparkle is a charity supporting children and young people in Gwent with disabilities and developmental difficulties.
The purpose of the get together was for the children to have the opportunity to take part in childhood experiences that are more accessible to them, in a way that any other child would have. Often, this is not so easy as a lot of community events are inaccessible for the children that Sparkle supports, due to issues such as physical accessibility, sensory sensitivities, and social stigmas.
This means that the children often miss out on the experiences all together, meaning they do not get the personal growth and development that they would gain.
The event was a huge success and families in attendance say that they can not wait for the next one.
