Prodigy Four-Year-old from Newport Comes Third in BMX Competition

Imagine not even starting school yet, but coming third in an under 16s BMX competition.

4 year old Parker Gray has done just that.

His father, Louis, who is immensely proud said that the family aren’t really a biking family and they have no idea where his passion has come from, but he is out on his bike every day, whatever the weather.

Starting out at just 18 months old on a balance bike, he quickly moved onto a pedal bike, which only took him 40 minutes to learn! As he grew up, he started going to workshops so that he could build on his skills. His father says he is constantly watching BMX videos on Youtube, specifically his favourite biker- Fabio Wibmer.

Coming third in the competition meant a lot to little Parker, who was just amazed at the thought the people would want to watch him ride his bike.

What an inspiration.

Four Week Film Festival Coming to Newport

Get ready for a four-week festival of film industry training and fun for the people of Newport.

And the best bit, its free to attend.

There will be so much going on, from workshops on just about everything- including editing, writing, designing and shooting films, to advice sessions and networking events with award-winning people in the industry.

With the creative industries growing, and almost everyone having a shared love of film, this is something you simply can’t miss. Even if you aren’t particularly interested in the industry side of film, you can go down and get stuck into the creative activities like puppet making and SFX hair and makeup. Just seeing what goes on behind the scenes of films.

The event will be hosted at community arts centre The Place (Bridge Street, Newport)
This is in partnership with  Newport City Council and Ffilm Cymru Wales, in partnership with Newport City Council.

Kingsway Shopping Centre has Plans for a Big Makeover

What could possibly replace Wilkos?

Once described as a ‘staple store’ the new owners of the Kingsway say they want to ‘look past retail’ as they plan for a successful future since it closed down.

This has started with Newport Biggest Busk last weekend taking place in the shopping centre every two weeks, and guess who they are being hosted by? That’s right! Us.

With the plans being to diversify the space and transform the Kingwsway into a vibrant hub to combat the rise in online shopping, something to connect the community is just what the place needs. Those who enjoy music are invited to come to the Kingsway Centre to enjoy the live music, prize giveaways, entertainment, and games.

Will we see you there on Saturday 31st August from 12:30pm?

Newport County AFC Win Their First Home Day Back

Their very first day back and what have they gone and done?

Won it.

It was their very first home league two game of the season. The stakes were high. The weather was hot. The pressure was on.

It was new manager Nelson Jardim’s first win, and he was delighted. He said

“It’s a huge win for the club, but me and the players want to dedicate it to the fans – they were brilliant.”

He goes on to say  “You could see the quality of our players and the character and desire to go and win the game.”

“Doncaster are a good team, they played some good football and they are very well organised, so winning against them is even better for us. It means a lot.”
