This past Saturday at the Newport Food Festival was everything a food lover could dream of! The sun was shining throughout most of the day, the atmosphere was buzzing with excitement, and the scent of delicious food filled the air. From street food vendors to gourmet delights, there was something for everyone, and you couldn’t have asked for a better day out.
The festival kicked off with a bang in the heart of Newport, and the energy was contagious.
Music filled the streets with the soundtrack being provided by Newport City Radio’s Dance Show DJ, Shane Elliott. The Newport Game Bar provided a stage area and a warm welcome for the radio crew and there were music games with shopping vouchers as prizes.
Down at the other end of the street, The Newport City Radio live music stage presented some awesome local solo musicians: Jamila Sullivan, Ryan Keyse, Delicious Dee, Milly Mason and Emma McCarthy.
Roaming street entertainment came in the form of balloon modelling, dancing dinosaurs, giant chefs, dancing squids, roaring Vikings, a brass band and The Place provided a cosy, quiet space to try out some arts and crafts.
The Newport indoor market hosted food demonstrations by big- name chefs and the Corn Exchange provided an area for talks and taster sessions.
The diversity of cuisines was incredible—local favorites mingled with exotic dishes from all around the world. Whether you were craving something savory or sweet, there was no shortage of mouthwatering options.
What’s a food festival without some great drinks to wash it all down? The craft beer and cider stalls were super popular, as well as exciting flavoured gins. Tasting the different beverages was all part of the day’s fun.
The aroma of hot drinks including delicious coffees wafted through the streets, blending with the rich fragrance of chocolate and pastries .
The 2024 Newport Food Festival was a fantastic celebration of food, community, and good vibes. Anyone who didn’t leave with a full belly and a happy heart probably wasn’t really there!
If you missed the Newport Food Festival this year – be sure to mark it on your calendar for 2025!
