Milly Mason is just 16. She writes and performs her own songs and was recently a guest on the Pure Local Extra show. Here are 5 things you might like to know about Milly.
The first song that I wrote was a song called ‘Different’. I wrote it on an instrument I now rarely play- the ukulele!
It was written on the classic theme of feeling like you don’t fit in, and my thirteen-year-old self certainly channeled her feelings towards the struggles of growing up. I actually can’t recall when I last played it; I remember thinking that it was fantastic at the time, but now, I tend to see it as something that started my passion for songwriting, rather than a song good enough for me to play regularly!
The obvious choice for me here is a dragon- perhaps it’s just the Welsh in me!
I’ve always said that flying would be the superpower to have if it were possible and I would call it Fireball (for fairly self explanatory reasons!).
My dream would undoubtedly be to share a stage with the Boss himself, Bruce Springsteen.
I would love to perform Thunder Road with him as it is one of my favourite songs of all time and having seen him live in concert before, I know how wonderful it is to hear him sing it.
Since he is someone who has inspired me enormously with my music, it would have to be Springsteen and the mighty E Street Band.
Even when I was just 6-years-old, my favourite band was a local one.
Not only should you listen to the incredible Rusty Shackle but you also need to go and see them live. They are some of the best performers in South Wales and I’ve been lucky enough to a share a stage with them multiple times before.
I discovered them for the first time at Wychwood Music Festival and I’ve been following them ever since!
