Which Famous Five come to Newport?

A brand new season of ‘The Famous Five’, a remake of our favourite childhood books is coming to our TV screens, and guess what? It was filmed in Newport.

The filming was taking place at the Raglan Barracks in Allt Yr Yn on the 18th October, all ready for the season to hit our screens in 2025. Showing on CBBC, the series features Diaana Babnicova, Jack GLeeson and most importantly- Timmy the dog. Based on the books, it follows the four children and their dog as they embark on their adventures and mystery solving.

Local MP, Ruth Jones paid the set a visit and said

‘“It was especially exciting to welcome the Famous Five to Newport with so many of us having read the original stories when we were younger.’’

Who else can’t wait to see our city featured on the telly? You can catch up on season one now over at BBC iPlayer.

Struggling with ASB? Talk to Newport Mediation

This week is anti-social behaviour week, which means that Newport Mediation will be attending events in the city to speak to members of the public about its service throughout ASB Awareness Week 2024.

ASB is more of a problem than you might think. Research commissioned by resolve found that a huge 1 in 10 people have had to move house due to the impact that antisocial behaviour was having on them. This is why it is so important that we have organisations like Mediation Newport that are dedicated to supporting the community.

Lynne-Hughes Williams of Newport Mediation said

“Mediation provides a safe space for dialogue, empowering individuals to rebuild trust, find common ground, and create lasting resolutions.’’
