Newport is about to make musical history with the first-ever Newport Music Trail, and the headline acts have just been revealed!

A Welsh-language indie rock sensation, a six-piece band with links to Welsh music royalty, and a homegrown rapper fresh off a major award win are all set to take centre stage.

Adwaith, CVC, and Lemfreck have been confirmed as the headline acts for this groundbreaking event, happening on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th March. Music lovers will be able to explore venues across the city, hopping between gigs just like at a major festival – but with one big difference: it’s completely free!

A City-Wide Celebration of Music

The Newport Music Trail will bring live performances to The Corn Exchange, Le Pub, The Cab, and Rootys, with more venues being announced soon. The event is all about showcasing local and Welsh musical talent, offering everything from punk to grime, funk to hip-hop, rock to pop, emo to country, and more!

In addition to the headline acts, the first wave of incredible support artists has been revealed, and the list is growing by the day. Some of the performers set to take part include:

Adjua, Campfire Social, Eurekas, Luke RV, Only Way Out, Parcs, Pizzatramp, Positive Reaction, Sage Todz, Simple As, Siula, State of Decay, State Sanctioned Violence, Swear Down, Teethin, The Family Battenberg, The Rogues, Thronk, VHS, Wyr, Anwar, Blu, Bruna Garcia, DJ Shai, DJ Treubeats, FernQuest, Miss Faithee, Murkage, Shantz, Skuzzy, Truth, and Yung Tay.

Bringing Big Names and Local Talent Together

Councillor Emma Corten, Newport City Council’s cabinet member for culture and communication, shared her excitement about the event:

“We’re thrilled to announce such an incredible line-up for the first Newport Music Trail. Our goal is to bring in artists who are already making a name for themselves, while also shining a spotlight on the fantastic local and Welsh talent we have. To have Adwaith, CVC, and Lemfreck leading the charge is amazing, and our growing list of acts promises something for everyone.”

She also highlighted the city’s growing music scene:

“A recent article in NME recognised how Newport’s small venues are reaffirming our status as a city that breathes music. The Newport Music Trail is a chance to celebrate that heritage and build on our vibrant grassroots scene. We’re so grateful to our partners at FOCUS Wales for helping us secure such an epic line-up.”
