Miss Newport is “excited” and “prepared” ahead of Miss GB final

The current Miss Newport, Caitlin Renee Holmes recently popped into our studios to chat on the latest edition of the Newport City Show. 

She revealed to us that winning the Miss Newport competition back in June hasn’t quite sunk in yet. 

“No, honestly, every time I see any of my family that I haven’t seen in ages and they’re like, oh, congratulations. I’m like, oh, for what? Because it literally hasn’t even hit me that this is actually what I’m doing. And I obviously have to compete on the big Miss Great Britain stage, which is so scary, but I’m so, so excited for it.

“Honestly, this has been my dream for years, even before I ever entered. I’d always watched the previous Miss Great Britain’s and things, and I always knew that that was what I wanted to do. So obviously not winning the first year, I knew that I had to go step back and take those two years off to come back to know that this is definitely what I’m going to do. This is what I’m going to say. and really have a really strong platform that I can go in and really make a difference because I really want to just,

In regards to her preparation for the Miss GB final she revealed that there hasn’t been any change from her Miss Newport win. 

“I’d say the same, like pretty much the same, to be honest, because I think going into Miss South Wales I knew so strongly what I wanted to say and what I wanted to do that I already kind of had that platform and like the impact I wanted to make in place.

“So going into my interview, it was pretty similar to obviously what I’m going to say for my interview for Great Britain, just obviously a lot stronger because I’ve done so much since in the last couple of months.

“But just a lot of like, it sounds silly, but like walking practice and stuff like that. I think you get like feedback as well from the South Wales one I just did so some of my feedback was that was too like wobbly on my feet so I got new heels so things like that and obviously I’ve just got my dress I literally tried it yesterday but I’m not gonna share any color or anything that’s my top secret that I’m gonna keep um but yeah obviously just all the outfits and things I think I was very last minute last time so I think now I know it’s only like less than 40 days ago but I want to actually make sure I’ve got everything set so i can just focus on going in and feeling prepared rather than just being a bit like on the whim.”
