Meet the Mayor and his Deputy. Its Ray and Chris on their year in the role
As I reflect on the tumultuous journey of 2008, a year marked by both professional milestones and personal challenges, I invite you to join me on a rollercoaster ride through the highs and lows of this unforgettable chapter.
Six Nations rugby remained a steadfast passion amidst the chaos, as I continued my role at BRfm in Brynmawr, selling radio advertising and presenting shows. Inspired by the fervour for Welsh rugby, I pioneered the concept of ‘6 Nations Live at Your Local,’ bridging the gap between my radio and DJ endeavour’s.
Amidst these endeavors, a transformative opportunity arose with the inception of Newport City Radio. Collaborating with the team from Urban Circle Radio, we embarked on a mission to create a platform that resonated with the youth of Newport, culminating in a groundbreaking FM broadcast and the Urban Circle festival.
However, amidst the excitement of these ventures, life threw a curveball with the news of my impending divorce. Despite the shock and confusion, I found solace in the support of friends and the therapeutic escape of DJing. Embracing the familiar rhythms of the turntables, I found solace amidst the chaos.
