aron said nodding stalwartly at the screen, “I concede that you're not an anti-fan!” as if she could see him, “and I would like us to be friends, I bet we've got heaps in common,” he finished, as he had a feeling she was going to agree then delete and block again.
The lack of response seemed to take an eternity, eventually she typed, “Like what?”
“We both love Aaron G!” Aaron said.
Aaron was doing a guest spot on a cooking programme on Saturday morning, as on the sly he was quite a good little chef. He loved food, he loved cooking, the boys had been to many top restaurants, and they all preferred Aaron's cooking, Aaron took pride in his work, not only in music but everything he loved doing, he took pride and put in time and effort, cooking was no different, if he wasn’t a musician, he most definitely would have been a world class chef. “What's your favourite food?” he asked.
“Cherry pie,” came the immediate answer. He pouted, his bottom lip curled all the way over, 'cherry pie'. Of all the foods she could have said, moules marinière, canard à l'Orange even beef wellington, but cherry pie? “Awesome I love cherry pie!” he replied, although in all honesty he couldn’t remember the last time he had cherry pie.
The boys arrived later in the day, it was also Bas and Tomo's home, Niall and Lance had come round for food as Aaron was cooking, they were all a little surprised that the signature dish was going to be 'cherry pie'. Aaron had done a prawn cocktail for starters and steak Diane with garlic potatoes, asparagus and tenderstem purple broccoli for main then, 'cherry pie'. When they tasted it however, the whole thing was gone in seconds.
“Is there more?” Bas asked hopefully, Aaron shook his head, they all wanted to know what was in it? Aaron explained that he had managed to get some really nice morello cherries, and some granny smiths cooking apples, the apples he had stewed and then blended to thicken the sauce, demerara sugar, he had added cinnamon to the sauce and the pastry, but to the sauce he had added a little red dessert wine and a 'good dash' of crystallised ginger to both the sauce and the sugar for the top.
He had slaved all day over the range to create the perfect cherry pie, and had accomplished it first time. “You need to patent this, 'Kickin' Cherry Pie'” Tomo laughed, all the boys agreed. So later that night, Aaron went online and dropped the hint to Aaliyah that 'Aaron G' was doing a guest spot on 'Get Cooking' on Saturday morning, 11 am, he'd decided to make his 'Kickin' Cherry Pie'.
Aaliyah and her mother settled down to watch the cooking programme, in all honesty it was Aaliyah's mother who was the cook in the house. Aaliyah however had another reason for watching it, Aaron G was a guest on the show. It seemed to take forever for Aaron to come on and Aaliyah decided they were saving the best till last. After the commercial break the presenter introduced Aaron G, and seemingly left him to it.
“Well as you know Pip, I love Cherry pie, its one of my absolute, absolute, favourite dishes, so today I'm going to share with you 'my' recipe for 'Kickin cherry pie'” Aaliyah sat back in near disbelief, did he just say cherry pie?
