Kym was joined by Kori and Cole of Forsaken Duo for a chat about themselves

Today on the Pure Local Extra show, Kym was joined by Kori and Cole the musical group ‘Forsaken Duo’. The duo is a dark country acoustic band duo known for their hauntingly atmospheric sound and raw, emotional storytelling. The duo features deep, gravelly vocals paired with acoustic guitars, creating a stripped-down yet powerful musical experience.

The first time they’ve come down to the studio, they gave us a little bit of an insight into their experience with music.

They’ve been together for only a few months, forming back in June. It all happened after an open mic night. Kori told us that around this time last year, Cole suggested the idea of a band and so they formed under a different name. They tried to recruit other members but found the endeavor difficult so it naturally fell apart, leaving just Cole and Kori.

They started developing ‘Lonesome Road’, their first single. They then started putting together another band but with slow progress. They went to another open mic night and the host got them the chance to perform as a duo. Although it took them a month to develop a full set list.

They decided to stick as a duo, but they’re still open to creating a full band in the future. But right now, they’re completely fine as just a pair.

They’re currently working on future songs, with 2 in the pipeline right now.

One of the main things they focus on is covering songs since they’ve only recently started creating original tracks. Being a country duo, obviously they take country songs. Some of which are, Tennessee Whiskey, Seven Nation Army, Country Roads among many, many more. They take on a variety of songs.

We listened to one of their covers that they recorded, Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Cole is a big fan of Lynyrd Skynyrd and recommended the song to Kori. He thought that Kori’s voice would fit the song.

They mentioned that they have one gig planned for the 19th of November in Abergavenny. They also said that they are busy with lots of recording.

We had just a few minutes to squeeze in a little kazoo cover of Tennessee Whiskey.
