Dark Souls 3 -X-box one, PS4 and PC
Imagine holding a sword in one hand, shield in the other and being head to toe in gleaming metal armour which reflects the setting sun causing an orange aurora around you. Then you sigh as you take a step towards the monster in front of you to start the fight for the 30th time… Welcome to dark souls 3.
Often called one of the hardest game series, Dark Souls has been making people rage quit for years, you pick which class you want to play, melee, spell caster, ranged with a bow or healing cleric with a heavy mace and then you make a direct path to the first boss encounter in the game. The first boss comes in play very quickly and is often referred to as the tutorial boss and is the first proper occasion to try out the class you picked.
Most of the time this encounter occurs a few various times on different classes until you pick one that feels good for you and then once you have finally defeated the boss (it may take a while) it is time to go to Fire Link Shrine. Fire Link Shrine forms the central hub to the game, you will find merchants, class trainers and the Fire Keeper who helps you level up.
The premise of the game is to gather souls through killing undead creatures and defeating bosses to progress to the next stage of the game. There is also a few Downloadable Contents which add new areas, bosses and equipment and expand the game. As I mentioned above the game will drive you to the edge of sanity, it is not uncommon to find yourself rage quitting and having to repeat fights and areas numerous times however there is something about the game that always drags you back despite the frustrating times encountered.
The last area of the game I want to touch upon is the multiplayer aspect. Through certain collected items you are able to invade other plays worlds, or have yours invaded, and engage in player versus player battles. Some people only play the game for this aspect and gear their character and focus their levelling on the best stats to be competitive and win battles where as some people just want to have a bit of fun. This can be turned off if you do not want to participate in this part of the game however I would recommend trying it out at some point as it can be fun.
