In recent times we have become accustomed to buying man-made & chemical products to tackle household tasks, when often, all we need is a natural solution that we all have in our kitchen cupboard.
There are many uses for olive oil besides culinary. Some of them are medicinal or just ways of making life easier. Here are five of my favourite tips. There are many more!
Ever had a sticky zip on your jeans or a jacket? No matter how much you tug at it, it just won’t budge?
Get a cotton bud or a piece of tissue with a small dab of olive oil on it. Carefully wipe the sticky teeth of the zip with the oil and remove any residue. Et VOILA!Â
The zip will glide up and down smoothly.
Don’t rush out to buy a commercial oil like WD40.Â
Simply reach for the olive oil from your kitchen cupboard. Dampen a square of kitchen paper or a cloth with a little olive oil and wipe the hinge all over.
Simple! No more squeaky door
It’s irritating and cometimes painful when your finger swells and you can’t slide a ring off. Try rubbing a little olive oil on the skin close the ring. Twist the ring gently allowing the oil to seep under it. Gradually, the ring will loosen and slide off.
Simply use your fingers to rub oil into the strands, leave on for five minutes, then gently slide the gum out of the hair.
Perhaps you suffer with hayfever or have a dry itchy throat due to a dusty environment.
Take a small sip of olive oil from a teaspoon. You should feel the relief immediately.
