If you like music and you like it a bit loud, where were you on the weekend?
You’d be forgiven if you were somewhere listening to music, but if you weren’t at the Rock Stock Festival in Porthcawl last Saturday (Nov 30th,) then you would have missed out.
As mentioned, last weekend saw a lot of action in Trecco Bay, as touring bands and fans alike passed through the quiet seaside holiday park, also entertaining the residents of the small coastal community.
If you had to guess who this blog is about, what would you say? Not sure! Well, you’d be absolutely 100% correct if you said Pyrogaric. Their reign of terror and absolute chaos isn’t over yet. I saw them play The Pit at McCann’s in Newport on November 8th then jumped on the road with them heading to Planet Rock’s, Rock Stock Festival.
Taking behind the scenes footage and pictures of the band in a more candid and comedic capacity, felt different in comparison to the usual regulated by the book style of promo. It was fun spending the day with the band, I felt like a VIP hanging out with them backstage. I found myself telling people, “I’m not in the band, I’m with the band,” which I still find amusing.
We arrived early and got to grips with the layout of everything, which was perfect because my alien brain is wired differently to anything I know. After getting their merch set up and ready to sell, next they had to load their gear.
Pyrogaric were the second band of the day to play from 12:30pm – 1pm and their set as always was fantastic. I may be slightly biased because I’ve always liked this band, especially because they do things differently to other bands. If Kate Bush fronted Black Sabbath, then you’d be half way there.
After their set, I think they felt surprised with how their merch sold because it didn’t seem to them people were engaging with them while they were on stage. That just goes to show the unspoken power that music has over us, we don’t know how it affects us until were engaged with it sometimes on a subconscious level. Either way their new album, The Serpent (2024), sold well on the day.
They have a few more gigs to go before the end of the year and to round off the end of the promotion for their second album, but here’s to bigger and better things in 2025 start with a national tour of the UK in the Spring. Watch this space as this band are ones to watch in the coming year, they’ll quickly be going onto bigger and better things.
