veryone’s favourite manipulating, murderous, 4th wall breaking President is back and what a series it was!
Part of me is so glad that they kept it simple. This is unlike season four where you had everything going on at once. This season, pretty much, just concentrated on the election.
After watching four seasons of House of Cards I liked to think that I could predict what would happen. But the show still found ways to surprise me during season five. For instance, at one point I thought that Frank would win the election by a landslide because, well, the series is pretty much all about him and if he were to lose the presidency, then what point would the series have? Unless Claire ran for President and won, but even then there’s no way Frank would just sit there and let her do her job as he would probably do it for her and if that was the case then why bother to make him lose the presidency in the first place.
But it didn’t go that way and, although Frank did technically lose the election, they thought of a brilliant storyline to keep him in power. However, as much as I love Frank and as much as the series would be over if he lost the Presidency, I still would have liked to have seen how Will would have handled the Commander in Chief job.
But my theory is that everything is going to come crumbling down on Frank. He’s made a lot of enemies and I think he’s going a bit crazy. Seth isn’t 100% loyal to Frank and neither is Claire for that matter. He and his BFF Doug are being investigated by The Washington Herald legend that is Tom Hammerschmidt. Mike isn’t completely trustworthy himself, so what are the chances of all these people individually attacking Frank all at the same time?
Overall, the series was brilliant and I can’t wait for the next one.
