The Circus is Coming to Newport, With one Very Exciting Act...

Get ready,Newport! Silke Pan, an amazing performer with an incredible story, is coming to town.

Once an acrobat, Silke’s life took a dramatic turn after a serious injury left her paraplegic- but she didn’t let that stop her. Now, she’s back in the spotlight, bringing her talent and resilience to the stage as part of a unique Italian circus show- which is making its way to Newport.

Her performance reflects just how powerful her spirit is as she blends artistry with emotion, showing just how incredible the human body can really be. Her journey is all about defying the odds, she fought her way back to the stage after her accident and is now proving to be an inspiration to us all.

So, be prepared for a powerful and moving show, it’s definitely not one to miss. You can catch the show in Tredegar park from 25th-29th September

Another Young Welsh Prodigy?

Alwena Morgan, a 12-year-old cyclist from Cwmifor, has claimed the Welsh Champion title in the Youth C Girls Closed Road Circuit Racing.

The young cyclist, a pupil at Ysgol Bro Dinefwr, aspires to become a professional rider. Competing regularly across the UK, she trains at Newport’s velodrome and serves as a Welsh cycling ambassador, inspiring younger athletes. I’m sure she will be reponsible for many more young ones with talent in the future.

Coached by Evolution Performance Ltd and representing Velo Myrddin CC, Alwena’s victory marks a significant milestone at the beginning of her cycling career. This is such an acheivemenyt to have already at such a young age

I’ll bet we will be seeing her name a lot more in years to come as she continues thriving in doing what she loves.

Robots Change Lives…

Sophie Shuttleworth from Newport thought she would never be able to walk again after she contracted viral meningitis and was left paralysed.

That was until she started using the exoskeleton, known as Exomotus M4 at her therapy sessions at Morello Clinic, a Newport-based physiotherapy and rehabilitation service.

The robot that is used by her and eight others moves the user’s legs in a natural walking pattern. This not only does wonders for their mental health, but also allows for their bodies to get proper circulation.

Ms Shuttleworth said that as well as the exoskeleton providing her with ‘massive benefits’, “It’s also really good for me mentally, I have now been able to stand up for the first time in two years and that’s been really emotional.”

She went on to say that “The endorphins I used to get from swimming are the same feeling I get now when I walk”

What an amazing story. Maybe robots really are the future?
