Festival season is upon us with a host of events lined up across South Wales. The Green Man Festival may have sold out, but if you are searching for that festival vibe, here is all the information you need.
When: 7th July
Where: Maindee Primary School
One of the best annual community events on offer in Newport, the Maindee Festival returns on Saturday. Expect a colourful parade starting from the rugby grounds at noon, while the school plays host to community stalls and entertainment.
Beechwood Park Family Fun Day
When: 15th July @ 12 noon – 3pm

An afternoon of family fun at Beechwood Park, with stalls, entertainment and face painting.
The Big Splash
When: 21st – 22nd July
Where: Newport Town Centre
A weekend of free family street theatre returns to the city. A true artistic takeover of the city, which is an event not to be missed. Comedy, drama and the downright strange spread across six performance zones. If you’re in doubt where to start your Big Splash adventure, head to the Riverfront for family crafts and pick up an event schedule.
Party in the Parc
When: 29th July @ 11am – 4pm
Where: Belle Vue Park
A free event for the whole family in aid of St David’s Hospice Care. Newport City Radio are proud to be part of this amazing summer event. Expect live music, entertainment, street food, crafts, community groups and local traders.
Party at the Park
When: 13th July@ 4pm – 10:30 pm
Where: Tredegar Park
Party at the Park returns this year with a new line up, including; Soul II Soul, The Craig Charles Funk & Soul Club and ASWAD. This popular event is down to its last couple of hundred tickets. Tickets start at £30 and include free shuttle transport from Newport Station.

Where: Tredegar Park
A fun celebration of live music in the heart of Tredegar Park, all in aid of St David’s Hospice Care. This event has a festival vibe with two stages of amazing music from local talent and headliners. Meanwhile families can take a break from the music and enjoy workshops, a climbing wall and funfair, not to mention a huge selection of stalls serving food and drink.
10 years of Newport City Radio
When: July 9th - July 18th @ 10am to 11am
Join the celebration for 10 years of Newport City Radio. Tune in every morning for an hour of live music.
When: 27th – 29th July
Where: Coedarhydyglyn Estate, Cardiff
With over 100 acts across 4 live stages, this event is a true festival experience. Less than a mile from Culverhouse Cross, this festival is conveniently located and includes a range of acts to suit most tastes. Rock, Indie, Ska, Pop, Blues, Folk, Classical, House, Techno, and three days of non-stop DJs in the dance tent. Tickets range from a £25 to £55, making it much more affordable than many music events. Tanabata: Star Festival
When: July 7th @ 10am - 4pm
Where: Cardiff Museum
A unique celebration for the Japanese festival of Tanabata. This event will immerse you in Japanese culture with workshops, activities and performances running throughout the day. Try on a kimono, listen to traditional drumming, or maybe hang a wish on the bamboo tree. This looks set to be a perfect family event.
