His Maestro's Voice! Anthony Stuart Lloyd tells Kym about his Classical & Showtunes at Newport Market
To start the show, Georgia has held our Record Of The Week title for the past week with her song “Happy Halloween: To Hell With It”. This week, continuing with the Halloween theme, our Record Of The Week goes to “Ghost” by Keys of RightKeysOnly. Two Record Of The Week holders in the studio at the same time!
Both Nigel and Georgia had never met before, however, after some conversations before the show and during songs they found out that they know many of the same people in the music scene.
Other than music, Nigel is also quite a skilled artist, specialising in caricatures. He’s recently created an EP cover for the band TangleJack.
The first song of the show by one of our guests was “Poppy Fields” by Georgia. As the name suggests, it takes on the theme of the war, especially fitting as remembrance day is coming up. Georgia told us that she found the song vocally challenging due to the topic. Proceeds from the song will go to the British Legion as well as profits from CD sales as a limited 50 have been made.
As of recently, Georgia released the song “Mystery Woman” last year. The track being her attempt at a Bond Song. She told us that she ended up writing a sequel to the song: Black Widow. Both tracks became a connected story, perhaps more could come of this in the future.
The next topic of discussion was how long they have been on the songwriting scene. Nigel has been songwriting for 52 years, starting it as a teenager. He took a break but came back to it and has now been really concentrating on songwriting over the last 20 years. Georgia started writing at age 11 although she only started releasing her music in the past 3 years.
Next up, what gigs are coming up soon. Nigel will be supporting Matthew Frederick next week in The Phyllis Maud. As for Georgia, nothing so far, she’s taking a break from gigging. Although, she will be back in the studio next week recording a Christmas song.
