Todays guests were Wrenna and Craig (Craig being joined by his son Ruben) and both talked about some of their new music releases and other things about themselves.
Firstly, we talked about Craig’s collaboration with Guy Challenger. The two met around 2 years ago while playing a gig. They both had a connection with suicide prevention charity Papyrus. The duo decided to create a collaboration track for the charity. The song had a good response and they decided to do more. However, instead of doing just one song, they decided to do an EP in which they covered each others songs entitled ‘Embrace The Fear’.
The first song we listened to on the show was called The Fear by Craig and Guy. The song was originally written by Craig but Guy liked it so much that he decided to cover it. Kym asked what the song is about, but Craig replied that he wasn’t too sure himself. He suggested that it could be entirely up to the listeners interpretation as to what its about. He said that the lyrics seemed to write themselves.
The next song we listened to was by Wrenna entitled Existential Crisis. The song being her most recent release and our record of the week. She gave us some insight on the creation of the song: she wrote it after leaving University, she didn’t know what she wanted to do. She chose to pick up her guitar and start writing about how it feels to be overwhelmed about having to figure out what you want to do.
Wrenna is also working on an EP for later this year and next year, she said that it would be Alt Pop and Indie Pop with a similar vibe of Existential Crisis.
Coming into the studio was not the only thing Craig took part in today, he was also playing at the Spring Fair in Blackwood today. He was there for around an hour and a half playing his own songs and covers.
As for what’s coming up for our artists, Craig’s EP ‘Embrace The Fear’ is out now on Bandcamp. His next single entitled ‘Scars’ which we played today will be coming out soon. For Wrenna, her next single ‘Without Me’ is out at the end of April. Her next gig is in Swansea at the end of March in support of another act.
