Our EJ is hosting a Coffee Morning

For the 7th year in a row our very own EJ is hosting a coffee morning in support of Macmillan Cancer Support.

This year there is a slight twist. It is being held in The Artisan located within The Kingsway Centre between 11:30am – 1/2pm

We recently caught up with EJ to find out a little bit more about what this is all about and what it means to him.

What is a Coffee Morning?

“It is about raising money and awareness for different kinds of research. It’s about helping people to get better with families and friends. Making sure they get as much support and the best treatment. I love doing it for Macmillan because it’s about working to raise as much money as possible for a great cause.”

What does it mean to you to get involved in this and to help Macmillan?

“I’ve done it for seven years now. When I first started, I used to do it in college, I would bring cakes and my teachers and my friend used to give me money to put in the Macmillian box. I used to do certain other things for it, like Newport City Radio, doing a radio show to talk about it and making sure everybody can hear how they can help get involved.

They’ve helped me in previous years to organise this event. To work with Macmillian is special to me because I can help people who have cancer which is such a horrible disease.

“It’s very important to me to do it. It puts me in a really positive mood knowing I’ve done something to help others within my own community and other communities around the world.

“I think it’s really important to do events with Macmillan and speak out about cancer research and make sure people do understand about cancer research and what goes into it and how you can help.”

How can others get involved?

“They have lots of things to do to raise money such as music for Macmillan, dressing up in costumes and cakes and tees and all that. I’ve seen a bouncy castle with Macmillan’s name on it. I’ve had a fly the kite day for Macmillan as well as a marathon.

“For me I encourage as many people as possible to attend what promises to be a great morning at The Artisan and raise as much money as I can for this great charity that means a lot to me and to others who could be survivors, they could be going through it right now or know someone who has had cancer.”
