A. Most people know me as Lamsie
A. Ian Lamsdale
A. It's 20 years since I started in the business. I've always loved radio and was obsessed with the Radio 1 Road Show which began in the summer of 1973 and ran until 2000.
I went to those road shows whenever I had the opportunity (not as early as 1973!) I loved watching the DJs at work.
I thought “I want to do that!”
It all started for me when I was asked to play music at short notice for an anniversary party. Not long after that, I was asked to cover a gig at BLAKES, just as a one-off.
Then I started to play regular gigs at the Third Floor of the Bank, now known as REVS (Revolution)
I've been earning a living playing music ever since, and it allows me to indulge in my obsession: Newport City Radio!
A. Friday nights at KMA (11pm – 6am),
Saturday nights at Atlantica, Cafe Bar. (10pm – 4.30am)
Monday nights - Newport City Radio - Newport's Most Wanted (5pm - 7pm) - my favourite gig!
A. I expect I would have led a boring life in something like financial services. In fact, I did work for Legal & General for nine years.
A. I'm pretty sure my first single was St. Winifried's Choir - There's no-one quite like Grandma, but I didn't buy it willingly, I was under pressure from school or parents lol!
The first single record I chose that I really liked was Tina Turner's What's love got to do with it. I bought it at W.H.Smith.
My first album was The Slightest Touch by Five Star.
A. I like trips abroad but I also love Cornwall and West Wales. Ibiza is a favourite too, there's so much more to it than the club scene.
I like my holidays to be relaxing with a bit of clubbing thrown it too!
Australia is a country I would really like to visit.
A. Easy! Cheddar cheese & tomato sauce.
A. No hesitation about my LEAST favourite – Country! My favourite is current dance & chart music.
