Hear the ultimate Tom Jones tribute at the Riverfront on the 1st of October. ‘It’s Not Unusual’ is a concert celebrating Tom Jones and his classic songs brought to you by Entertainers and a live band. Doors open at 7.30 and tickets are £28.50 and can be purchased at tickets.newportlive.co.uk

The Magnor Amateur Drama group present Who Killed the Secret Agent, a murder mystery in three acts. It takes place on the 1st of October at the Dolman Theatre and a fish and chip supper is included. On the 5th October, the Riverfront presents Dom Joly’s 2022 tour of Holiday Snaps, a comedic travelogue of the places he’s visited and lived in around the world. The Riverfront presents Carole, the Music of Carole King on the 6th of October. A cast of the UK’s finest singers, dancers and musicians tell the story of Carole King, one of the world’s greatest songwriters. Doors open at 7.30pm and tickets are £27.50 and available at Tickets.newportlive.co.uk.

Dinosaur World Live comes to the Riverfront on the 7th to 9th of October. This Jurassic adventure stars beautifully realistic dinosaurs live on stage and includes a meet and greet after. Shows are at 4.30pm on the 7th, 11am, 2pm and 4.30pm on the 8th and 11am and 2pm on the 9th. Tickets are £15 and available at Tickets.newportlive.co.uk.

On Saturday 8 October, the city centre streets will once again become a hive of activity and tasty treats, as the Food festival returns. Find the best in food and drink from across the city and the wider region. As well as the stalls, the newly refurbished Newport Market will be playing host to local chefs putting on special demonstrations throughout the day. There will also be a full programme of activities taking place across the festival site, including face-painting and roaming street theatre. Entry to the festival, which begins at 9 am, is free.

The monthly produce market is at Tredegar house on the 8th of October starring local products and food in Tredegar House car park.

Remembering Richard is on at the Dolman Theatre on the 8th of October. It is a celebration in words and music of Richard Dymond. Doors open at 7.15 and tickets are £12.50, available from dolmantheatre.co.uk

Re Tour de Ned is at the Riverfront on the 12th of October. Ned Boulting takes you on a theatrical roadmap for anyone aspiring to win the biggest cycling race in the world, or wanting to know how to watch it on telly. The Bluejays are at the Riverfront on the 13th October. ‘Rave On – the Rise of Rock and Roll’ is a thrilling tour through music’s revolutionary decades including the greatest hits and artists from rock and roll’s golden era. The Ultimate Boyband Party Show is at the Riverfront on the 15th October, featuring a collection of the number 1 hits from 90s boybands. The show is at 7.30pm, tickets are £24 and can be purchased from Tickets.newportlive.co.uk.

ANGEL by Torch Theatre is at the Riverfront on the 19th of October. It tells the story of one woman’s brave fight against the biggest threat in her town and its people, ISIS. Gaslight is at the Dolman Theatre on the 19th to 22nd of October. Newport Playgoers Society tells the story of a marriage based on deceit and trickery in this Victorian era thriller. Doors open at 7:30pm every day with an additional matinee on the saturday at 2pm. Tickets are £15 for adults and £8.50 for children, with tickets available at from dolmantheatre.co.uk

Rocket Man is at the Riverfront on the 21st of October. It is the world’s favourite celebration of Elton John’s life and career live on stage. Doors open at 7.30 and tickets are £29.50 and can be purchased from Tickets.newportlive.co.uk.

Owl at Home is at the Riverfront on the 22nd of October. It is an enchanting tale with music based on a book about an owl finding a friend, ideal for children 5-11 and their families. At the NEON on Friday 23rd  October, it’s the sounds of Rockgrass from Hayseed Dixie. Doors open 7pm. Tickets available from NEON.

Lionfest 3 is at the Pill Harriers RFC on the 21st of October. A night of tribute and original music by four fantastic bands and two acoustic sets are presented by Ieuan the lion memorial fund.
