The Eurekas are back, and they are angry. Their fourth single, “Falling From Your Grace,” shows the band has something to say, and they do it in style. With their sights aimed squarely at the political establishment, this track delivers a powerful punch.
From their debut single, “Made You Look,” the band has always made their intentions clear. Their latest offering is a follow-up to “While The World Was Ending (I Was In A Rock N Roll Band),” a commentary on news media and its effects on us. This time, the Newport band flexes their rock muscles, resulting in a compelling song.
When Dan and Jack appeared on The Indie Show in March, listeners were treated to an acoustic interpretation of this song. However, the studio version takes it to a different level. With two quality guitarists, you’d expect the guitar to be the focus, but on this new track, it’s the drums that steal the spotlight.
The song begins with a pounding drum beat that showcases Morgan Wicks’ skills, an accomplished musician also playing with Joe Kelly and The Royal Pharmacy and Aaronson. Along with solid bass guitar from Patrick Laffan, this provides a stern foundation for a classic rock song. The fuzzy guitars suit the song perfectly, and Jack Perrett’s fantastic vocal performance, especially in the bridge and chorus, is ably complemented by Dan Burridge. The band is on top form here.
Musically, the track has shades of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and The Black Keys. The press release also mentions Queens Of The Stone Age and The White Stripes as influences. Fans of these bands will find much to love in “Falling From Your Grace.”
The lyrics are thought-provoking, and the political awareness gives the music an added edge. This is high-quality music with a conscience, and it’s most welcome.
The production on the song is from Tom Rees of Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard. An acclaimed producer in his own right, Rees has worked with the likes of Panic Shack and The Bug Club. Based in Cardiff at Rattrap Studios, he uses vintage equipment to create a unique sound, which is evident on this single.
Given that a General Election has been called and a potential new Prime Minister in July, this feels like an appropriate time for this song to be released. The band shows versatility in their releases, and this will only enhance their reputation as one of the most vital bands around.
“Falling From Your Grace” will be available on all streaming services from May 31st, 2024. You can listen or download here.
